Since the resort opened its doors 37 years ago, La Manga Club has always been synonymous with sports, leisure and luxury. A fantastic award was recently presented to the "5 Millionth" player at La Manga Club, with a decade of FREE golf as the prize. The lucky winner of this unique award was Emilio de Carvajal, an amateur golfer from Madrid who regularly visits La Manga Club and plays in the numerous golf tournaments held in the complex. Mr Carvajal (pictured right) received his prize from Pedro Batista, the Director of Golf at La Manga Golf Club. Mr Carvajal added "I come to La Manga Club two or three times a year to escape the routine of Madrid, as it is just three hours. Moreover, I find it comfortable to enjoy golf, a luxury hotel, spa and international cuisine from different restaurants without leaving the complex."
With its three championship courses and outstanding practice facilities, it is perhaps hardly surprising that La Manga Club has been voted Europe's top golf resort on so many occasions: Best Sports Complex in 2006 and 2007, World's Best Golf Complex in Spain in 2006, Best European Golf Complex in 2001, 2003 and 2005 and Best Hotel and Conference Europe in 2003, awarded by the prestigious World Travel Awards. The hotel also has a Q of Quality since 2002. European Golf Resort of the Year, Hertz International Golf Travel Awards, 1999.
Many international tournaments have been hosted at La Manga Club, including the Spanish Open, Spanish PGA Championships, Spanish Junior Championships, Ladies' Spanish Open and Senior Spanish Open for men, not to mention countless televised corporate and celebrity golf events.
