Ryder Cup star Lee Westwood took time off from his hectic tour schedule to be the first visitor through the door and officially open this year's London Golf Show. Fresh from his 35th birthday celebrations Westwood led the rush through the doors at ExCeL as the fourth annual London Golf Show got underway last Friday morning.
Hundreds of eager visitors queued to catch a glimpse of the European Tour star, who opened the show by banging on the doors with his driver in the style of Black Rod at parliament. His first task was to greet a throng of reporters who had gathered in the hope of some juicy headlines at a packed press conference.
Westwood then took some time out to tour the event and visit some of the features on show - such as the 100 ft putt and floating green, where even he proved fallible when he landed his first shot short in the water - before patiently signing autographs for hundreds of fans.
Westwood is fresh from a fine performance at the Masters where he finished one over par in a tie for 11th. He was in contention right up until the final round and was as good as anyone in the field with only his putter letting him down.
Westwood admitted it was the first golf show he'd attended and that his first impression was that it was "impressive".
The London Golf Show enjoyed a busy three days and the crowds certainly enjoyed themselves, not least when one lucky visitor managed to find the cup on the 100 ft putt. One of the busiest stands at the show was the Chip and Spin stand who were busy chatting to hundreds of visitors, including Asian TV. Overall, Chip & Spin gave away an impressive 7000+ magazines to visitors on their stand.
Club Murcia were also at the London Golf Show as guests of Chip and Spin to discuss the Golf industry within Murcia and how the region is growing into a Premier Golf Destination. Whilst at the show Club Murcia met with representatives from Peraleja Golf and Roda Golf & Beach Resort plus a number of other golf organisations and businesses.
The London Golf Show is a key industry event and both visitors and exhibitors all agreed that this years London Golf Show was a total success.
Chip and Spin has recently launched its magazine within Murcia and the FREE Magazine is now available at your favourite Pro Shop every month.
