Spanish Government increase VAT from September 2012

The Spanish Government has recently announced an increase to the rate of VAT (IVA). Historically, Green Fees have benefited from a reduced rate of VAT therefore the change will affect players.

The standard rate of VAT in Spain will increase from 18% to 21% with effect from the 1st September 12.

However, some products and services which were previously charged at a reduced rate of 8% will also increase to 21%, this includes Green Fees.

Club Murcia are currently liaising with all of the Golf Resorts in order to establish how the change will be implemented at each resort.

Some Golf Resorts have confirmed that they will initially absorb the increase, others have confirmed that they will pass on some or all of the VAT increase to players.

Very few Golf Resorts have so far confirmed a change to their Green Fees, however Club Murcia will advise and update players as soon as each Golf Resort makes a decision.

Update (22/09/12): Nearly all the Golf Resorts have revised or confirmed their Green Fee rates and Special Offers from the 1st September 12. La Tercia have yet to confirm their Green Fee rates for the High Season. We are updating all players regarding their bookings as quickly as possible, based on arrival date.
