Aguilon Golf Review by Lee Williams

Our fourball played Aguilon on Sunday November 1st and most of us were in agreement that it is one of the most spectacular golf layouts we have ever played anywhere.

We played off the back tees (handicaps 6,6,6 and 12) and even as one of the lower handicappers it's one of the biggest challenges I have faced.

The course is a little bit untidy at the moment, some of the greens are damaged following the hot summer and not as much money seems to have gone into addressing this as opposed to the Polaris world courses we played, but if you look beyond that it really is an experience to savour - even if you come in a few balls lighter and few shots heavier at the end.

Even though it may appear long from the back tees it's quite a strategic course so it's not a case of grip it, rip it, find it.

You really need to think about where your putting your tee shot. They don't have course planners but it is mapped on Skycaddie GPS.

The travel time is a bit longer at the moment as the A350 route from the AP7 is currently closed, meaning it took us 40 mins longer to get there. It was worth the travel time from Murcia though.

A buggy is essential as you are literally playing in the mountains so there are elevated tees and big drops on some holes.

Put this on your must play list for something a little different to other courses in the region.

Lee Williams rates this course 9 out 10.
