o Fishing is the major industry in the area, followed by agriculture and mining. o The Mar Menor lagoon offers facilities for all kinds of watersports as well as nature and bird spotting.
o Nearby Mazarrón is one of the main tourist resorts on the Costa Calida with many beaches and excellent tourist facilities. This tiny city is dominated by the remains of the 15th century Castillo de los Vélez and by a series of 16th and 17th century churches.
o Further south, at Bolnuevo the huge sandy expanse holds one of nature´s most unusual surprises, the so called Enchanted City of Bolnuevo, a spot where water, wind and time have capriciously eroded the rocks to form fantastic figures.
